About the Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded HR Generalist to join a leading global reinsurance firm based in the City of London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with 3–5 years’ experience gained within a blue-chip, financial services or similarly complex corporate environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international organisation and will provide high-quality HR support across the full employee lifecycle.

Working closely with senior HR stakeholders, managers and employees, you will play an important role in delivering a professional, responsive and commercially focused HR service across the business.

The role is four days per week office-based in the City of London, reflecting the collaborative and relationship-driven nature of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Business Support

  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and support to managers and employees across the employee lifecycle.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, acting as a trusted and credible point of contact for HR matters.
  • Support managers with employee relations matters, including performance management, absence, conduct and other people-related issues.
  • Ensure HR policies and processes are consistently and effectively applied.
  • Partner with the wider HR team to deliver a high-quality and commercially focused HR service.

Employee Lifecycle

  • Manage and coordinate the employee lifecycle from onboarding through to offboarding.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, internal moves, promotions and employee changes.
  • Ensure employee records and HR systems are accurate and maintained to a high standard.
  • Coordinate probationary reviews, annual processes and other key employee milestones.

Employee Relations

  • Provide practical guidance to managers on employee relations issues, escalating complex matters where appropriate.
  • Support formal processes including performance improvement, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Work closely with HR leadership and relevant stakeholders to ensure matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with company policy and UK employment legislation.

HR Projects & Initiatives

  • Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead HR projects and initiatives across the business.
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies, processes and programmes.
  • Assist with people data, reporting and management information.
  • Support wider global HR initiatives and collaborate with international HR colleagues.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, highly organised and confident working with senior stakeholders.

You will ideally have:

  • 3–5 years’ HR Generalist experience, ideally gained within a blue-chip, financial services, professional services or similarly complex corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK employee lifecycle and HR best practice.
  • Experience providing HR advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Practical employee relations experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • The confidence to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to HR.
  • Experience working within a professional, regulated or international organisation.
  • CIPD qualification or working towards one would be advantageous.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will be someone who combines strong technical HR knowledge with excellent interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable operating in a sophisticated corporate environment where discretion, professionalism and attention to detail are essential.
