Our client is a leading, privately owned, independent construction merchant headquartered in Leicester, with multiple UK-based showrooms and branches. They are seeking a highly organised, proactive and commercially aware Executive Assistant to support their busy Commercial Director. This is a new, pivotal role requiring discretion, attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. You will act as a trusted right-hand to the Commercial Director, with some support also to the FD and Sales Director when required, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, effective communication across departments and efficient coordination of strategic and commercial initiatives.

Executive Assistant to Commercial Director

Location: Leicester (Office-Based, 5 Days per Week)

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive diary management, prioritising meetings and commitments.
  • Coordinate internal and external meetings, including preparation of agendas, papers and follow-up actions.
  • Liaising at Board level.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and commercial documentation to a high standard.
  • Act as a key liaison between the Commercial Director and senior management, branch managers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Manage confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Track and follow up on commercial projects, supplier negotiations, and key business initiatives.
  • Organise travel, accommodation, and itineraries as required.
  • Support board-level reporting and assist with strategic planning documentation.
  • Handle correspondence, screening calls and emails on behalf of the Commercial Director, Financial Director and Sales Director.
  • Assist with event coordination, supplier meetings and trade events.

About You

  • Proven experience as an Executive Assistant supporting a senior executive (ideally within construction, retail or a multi-site commercial environment)
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
