Administrative Services Manager | Salary: £33,828 - £35,646 | Location: Manchester | Contract Type: Permanent

A great opportunity has arisen to join an established academic institution as an Administrative Services Manager. This role involves direct line management of members of the administrative department, who provide general administrative services for the college and support college-wide marketing events.

The Administrative Services Manager will work closely with various members of the Senior Management Team across a wide variety of functions. This role requires a dynamic, proactive and hands-on candidate who will lead the department to provide an outstanding administrative service to students, staff and visitors.

This role is based on the campus on the outskirts of Manchester City Centre and is a hybrid role (1 day per week from home in term time, 2 days per week from home in holidays).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct line management of the Office and Reprographics Manager and Admissions Manager.
  • Ensure all department work is delegated appropriately and completed within deadlines.
  • Lead the department in promoting a team approach and professional ethos.
  • Monitor KPIs through the college service desk system to ensure department objectives are met.
  • Provide a range of administrative functions, including answering and distributing phone calls, assisting with mail merges, producing PowerPoint presentations, and spreadsheet tasks.
  • Operate and maintain the college database when required.
  • Develop and deploy an efficient administrative support system, leveraging IT and other technologies.
  • Assist with evening/weekend activities, functions, and events as required.
  • Lead the administrative function of the department in support of the Admissions Workflow and assist the Admissions Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Principal or Director of College Services to enhance the work of the college.
  • Undertake staff development and participate in the College’s Appraisal Process.
  • Ensure that appropriate cover is arranged when absent.
  • Contribute to the setting of departmental targets and work towards their achievement.
  • Support College liaison and marketing activities.

Person Specification:

  • Previous people management experience (5 years minimum) is essential.
  • Significant experience in an administrative role.
  • Previous administrative experience in an educational environment is desirable.
  • Experience of providing induction and basic training to others.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage a varied workload.
  • Proficient in multitasking, prioritisation, and workload management.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and resilient personality with the confidence to drive tasks forward.

Salary:

£33,828 - £35,646 per annum.
