Senior HR Business Partner (Generalist)


Location: London/Reading (Hybrid)
Contract Type: 12-Month Maternity Cover
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum (DOE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior HRBP generalist to join a mid-sized, well-respected organisation with a presence in both the UK and USA. This role can have the following setup:

  • London office 2 days per week, with 1 day per week in Reading, the rest from home
  • OR Reading office 2 days per week, with 1 day per week in London and the rest from home.

This role will suit someone with previous HRBP (or equivalent) experience who is used to working within a high change/high transformation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary HR Business Partner to UK-based employees across various functions.
  • Provide HR Business Partner support to global research teams in partnership with the SVP HR (US-based).
  • Partner with the senior team on driving employee engagement and retention, in addition to any organisational design needs as required.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition (Globally) on hiring and onboarding needs as well as offer agreements.
  • Day-to-day management of all UK HR processes and workflows, iterating these according to business requirements.
  • Manage the UK HR calendar and inbox, including upcoming renewals, probationary periods, training dates, and submission deadlines.
  • Build reports and review people analytics to help drive decision-making.
  • Partner with global benefits and payroll providers.
  • Liaise with external employment lawyers where required.
  • Lead and/or partner on various global HR initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain systems, records, and databases with accurate information in line with appropriate data protection laws.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Prepare and administer employee documentation, ensuring correct digital filing of such.
  • Ownership of health and safety, including first aid and liaising with building management.
  • Manage the start-to-end process of work permit applications and VISAs, partnering with external visa specialists.
  • Responsible for tracking and ordering lunches and office supplies for the UK offices weekly.
  • Ability to work successfully in a transformative environment.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • CIPD Level 5 Qualified.
  • Minimum of 6 years HR experience.
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and best practice.
  • Strong experience and understanding of employee relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organised, efficient, and detail-oriented, acting with empathy and integrity.
  • Solid IT skills – Excel, Word, with the ability to pick up new systems comfortably.

It Would Be Good To Have:

  • Outsourced payroll experience.
  • Experience processing pension contributions.
  • Experience using UKG (in-house HR system).
  • A good understanding of the sponsored UK visa application process.
