Learning and Development Manager – Top Tier Law Firm
Location: City of London
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum + bonus + benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning and Development (L&D) Manager to join a leading law firm as their first dedicated L&D professional. This is a pivotal role where you will have the autonomy to shape and implement the firm’s Learning and Development strategy, manage and grow the L&D function, and work closely with senior leadership to deliver measurable results.
Reporting to the Head of Talent, this is a strategic, hands-on role ideal for someone passionate about driving employee development, succession planning, and engagement within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Execute the firm’s Learning and Development strategy to support organisational goals.
- Collaborate with senior management to gather feedback, influence decision-making, and align learning initiatives with business objectives.
- Programme Design and Delivery:
- Develop and deliver soft skills training and blended learning solutions.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the L&D programme to ensure effectiveness.
- Talent Development:
- Work with HR Business Partners and leadership to identify high-potential talent, succession plan, and drive employee engagement.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, supporting their career progression.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external training partners/suppliers to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Metrics and Evaluation:
- Monitor the success of learning initiatives across defined metrics.
- Demonstrate problem-solving and change management expertise to drive continuous improvement.
- Team Management:
- Oversee and grow the Learning and Development team, ensuring alignment with the firm’s long-term goals.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in a Learning and Development Manager or similar role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in designing and delivering training programmes and blended solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with confidence in building relationships and driving change.
- Demonstrable expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and succession planning.
- Calm, measured, and passionate about Training and Development, with a solution-oriented approach.
