Senior Payroll & Pensions Officer (6-Month Contract) | Salary: £33,325 - £36,417 per annum
A great opportunity has arisen to join an established academic institution as a Senior Payroll & Pensions Officer. This is a brand-new role, and we are looking for an experienced candidate to lead the monthly processing of payroll on an initial 6-month contract, with the view to going permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly payroll, including all calculations and instructions, ensuring that all payroll changes are evidenced and approved according to college procedures.
- Work closely with the payroll bureau, checking the payroll and monthly reports they provide to prevent errors.
- Administer both pension schemes (Teachers’ Pensions Scheme and Greater Manchester Pension Fund) in accordance with each scheme's specifications, including submitting monthly remittances and Monthly Contributions Reconciliation for the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme.
- Liaise with the college’s financial controller regarding month-end reporting and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with scheme operators for Cycle to Work, Technology, and other salary sacrifice schemes.
- Advise staff members on their various leave entitlements and prepare regulatory reports such as gender pay gap reporting.
- Maintain and update employee records in the HR and Payroll software used by the college.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in payroll and pensions administration, preferably in an academic or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and pensions schemes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with staff and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office applications.
This role is initially office-based for the first 2-3 months, after which there will be the option to work from home 1-2 days per week.
